Electricity: a podcasted novel by myke bartlett 1999 Aston Somerfield, casual smoker and part-time alcoholic, has come to London to find himself. He knows who he's looking for, he's seen him on the cover of the NME. Drawn across oceans by fame and fate, Aston is keeping his diary empty to make sure he's available. Won't commit to anything until it's everything. London, however, has other ideas. When a virtual stranger calls Aston a few hours before his death, fate catches up with him, derailing his barely-made plans. Amid a hundred boozy evenings and romantic deadends, a mystery unfurls. Equally assisted and hindered by tremulous accountant Tom Hensley and dedicated loafer Steven Black, Aston uncovers a different London, one of murder, ghosts, dangerous emails and the second big bang. As chaotic and random as the city it inhabits, Electricity gradually evolves into a mystery bigger than the universe itself. Being of a somewhat useless persuasion, Aston does his best to ignore it. No worries on the delay, I'm sure you have other things going on in your life. Same here, always glad for new content, but sometimes life won't wait!
And either way, you know you're in our thoughts.

Myke, when you said that there would be two versions of Electricity, I knew immediately that I wanted to hear this one, and wouldn't bother with the other.
Now I'm thinking, "Podiobooks has different music! Gotta hear it!"

Thanks for you thoughts guys! I'm hoping to keep to schedule for the rest of the book.
Gail, the podiobooks version has very little music, all of it royalty free. It should appeal to those who can't handle my music taste thought! cheers! On the contrary, I find your musical tastes to be very appealing - a few old favorites mixed with new bands to check out.
well, yeah, what azurerocket said.

In point of fact, I've never heard of any of the artists or songs, but they do appeal to me, more so as we go along. When the music page comes along, I'll take a look to answer questions like, are these Australian bands (because that would explain a lot)!

Ok question because it tormenting me to no end, I am a podiobooks listener, and I think I am going to get some of the episodes from here as well because I do like you taste in music :D one thing though, the ending song that runs on most of your podiobooks episodes? who/what is it? its driving me nuts :P

Jukaz,
Glad you're enjoying the book. I do recommend you check out the author's cut as I got to use the sort of music I had in my head the whole time I was writing it. The music that ends the Podiobooks version is called "Ghostly Feeling" by an American singer/songwriter called Beight. You can find his music at www.magnatune.com - the album's called 'File in Rhythm'. Most of the tracks feature at some point or another in the Podiobooks version. All the best, Myke Myke,
I just finished chapter 8, bought another song (third I've bought from listening to your book, and I already had one of them) and I just had to tell you how much fun I'm still having. He didn't know here name. I love it! I think that may have happened to me at some point. Keep it up man, you are talented. |
